Week 9 – 3/31/2020

Zines & Ephemeral Texts

Reading

DUE

  • Create your own Zine to present in class. For this activity, you can draw your inspiration from current events, your personal life, your potential research topic for your paper, etc. Consider that many zines cater to their respective audiences often by providing tips or advice based on lived and researched experience. What “problem” might your zine address? I encourage you to consider the current moment living through “shelter-in-place” restrictions, COVID-19, and the situation of switching from a face-to-face learning situation to one that is online and remote.
  • You can use whatever materials you wish to make your zine. If you have a scanner / printer at home, feel free to do yours in hard copy. We do want to share our zines online, so if you do a paper zine, be sure to take photos that you can share with the group.
  • If you would like to do yours online, you might consider using an Adobe product. Here is the information you need to get access to Adobe products if you would like to use them:

Term-active CUNY students can now download Adobe Creative Cloud applications to their personal devices. Students can go to https://creativecloud.adobe.com and use their CUNY Login username to authenticate and select which Adobe Creative Cloud applications to install.

The student instructions on Accessing Adobe Creative Cloud[cisweb.cuny.edu] are available online and will be available from the IT Resources for Remote Work & Teaching page.
